After a long wait, it seems we’re close to the opening of the very first Genesis Studio in Melbourne and Brisbane. According to messaging sent to customers who register for more information on the upcoming GV70 SUV and their $1000 deposit pre-launch promotion, the studio is set to open in May 2021.
However, when we confirmed the information with Genesis Australia, the correct information is Melbourne in Q2, 2021 and Brisbane in the latter half. Details of where each studio will be located are unknown, but we do expect the locations to be prominent, to maximise awareness and foot traffic. The Sydney Studio is located on the Pitt Street Mall.
Genesis Australia opened the first studio in Sydney back in June 2019. Originally scheduled to open last year, COVID put the plans for Brisbane and Melbourne on hold. Each Studio is operated by Genesis themselves, and not by a dealer, allowing the brand to fully curate the customer experience and their introduction to the brand.
We visited the Sydney studio in 2019 and enjoyed the premium, yet low pressure, experience. Careful attention to the presentation of the vehicles, various trim levels and surrounding decor make it a great experience.
The brand has been one of the leaders in offering at home test-drives (Genesis To You program), and an online-only sales approach even before the impact of COVID affected the industry. The expansion of their Studios into Melbourne and Brisbane allows a wider range of potential customers to see or discover the brand. Particularly important when sales numbers are small, and slowly gaining traction.
The entire Genesis range has been expanded and refreshed with the recent launch of the Genesis G80 sedan, and GV80 SUV. The new GV70 SUV, and updated G70 sedan is expected to launch this year.
