Mini has taken the wraps off the latest version of the Mini John Cooper Works GP, and it will be the fastest one ever priced from $63,900. Taking the Mini JCW to the next level, and just 65 of the 3000 to be made coming to Aus, the new Mini JCW GP is set to redefine what ‘Go-Kart Feel’ really means when it arrives mid next year.

With 55kW more power than the Mini John Cooper Works, the GP model pushes 225kW and 450Nm from its turbo-charged four-cylinder engine. Mated to an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission with an integrated mechanical differential lock for the front wheels, the GP will accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
It’s not just about adding more power. The whole package has been optimised with a newly developed turbocharger that’s integrated into the exhaust manifold. The compression ratio has also been reduced to increase boost pressure. Additionally a new engine oil sump with increased volume and geometry has been made to ensure oil is where it needs to be even when working through fast and twisty roads or tracks.
On the inside, the interior gets a nice workover, and forget about having extra passengers as this cockpit is for two, and reduced acoustic insulation to ensure you hear every bit of that engine.
Priced from $63,900 excluding on-roads and other options, Mini Australia says that most of the 65 vehicles coming down under have already been spoken for with pre-orders. So this means that you might want to act quick if you want to get your hands on one.
