Here we have what we believe is a world first: a BMW X5 Ute….or Utility, depending on where you’re from.

BMW X5 Ute (19 of 22)

It isn’t the first ‘BMW ute’ (BMW made M3 Ute, and Stuart Appleby’s M5 Ute, plus countless other E30 3 Series Utes), however this is probably the vehicle that could be the most practical.

This ute was built by Motorline BMW – a dealership located in Queensland, Australia – which locally is known for some awesome projects including building their own 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL art car which is road-registered and CAMS approved.

At the moment the details on the build itself are limited, but we will find more out in the near future. We do know that the ute is based off a pre-facelift E53 3.0d or V8 petrol automatic which should at least mean that fuel economy and towing grunt is as good as it can get for that model.

As you hopefully will see in the photos the vehicle does look well-built and finished with no major hints that it wasn’t a factory job. The only major give-away would be the Toyota back window panel!

Enough writing though, enjoy the pictures and we’ll update when we get more info on the build!
