The Subaru WRX Concept has just shown itself and certainly is the best looking WRX.
Let’s be honest. The last few generations of WRX have started to get ugly with its puffed up body work and large spoilers. This time around Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), who makes Subaru vehicles, has taken a big step in improving the looks to hint at what the next WRX will look like.
It’s aggressive. The stance and the solidity which it hints shows that it won’t be toning it down from previous generations, but quite the opposite. FHI says it has kept key WRX design elements, but has made the WRX concept sedan low and sleek.
You’ll note the classic bonnet scoop, ducts and flared wheel arches and a turbocharged engine that will no doubt, still allow you to hear one from miles away. In the images you’ll also be able to note the changes for yourself. Hopefully we also won’t be seeing a return to some (arguably) ugly large spoilers as the bootlid incorporates its own to assist with aerodynamics.
Subaru also noted the colour shown is “WR Blue Pearl III” and a fluorescent yellow is being used for particular accents including the brake callipers and exhaust finisher. BBS wheels are BBS forged.
That’s all we have for now and there isn’t any word on when we might be seeing the next gen WRX. Stay tuned as we learn more over the next few days, weeks and months!
