During a recent visit to the Porsche Centre Brisbane dealership to check out the 911 Targa, it was quickly pointed out that there was another special car sitting on the dealership floor. This special cars was a manual Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition waiting to find an owner.
Based on a Carrera S, the 911 50th Anniversary Edition celebrates 50 years of the iconic sports car that was unveiled in 1963. Whilst this 911 is rear-wheel-drive, it borrows the wider bodyshell of the four-wheel-drive Carrera 4, plus a wider track and revised suspension settings for the car.
Included features for this special car include Torque Vectoring, a mechanical limited-slip differential, Porsche Active Suspension Management, and also the impressive adaptive damping system.
Limited to just 1963 examples, the 50th Anniversary Edition features a 3.8-litre six-cylinder boxer engine that produces 294kW of power and is available in a seven-speed manual or PDK gearbox.
The model that was on the floor was the rare manual gearbox, with only a handful being made available to Australia.
Visually, there’s 20-inch alloy wheels, darkened headlight surrounds, stunning Grey paint and numerous 50th Anniversary logos to remind you what you’re driving. On the inside there’s also a plaque noting the build number of the individual vehicle.
It’s not expected to be around long, but you can check out the Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition up close and personal at Porsche Centre Brisbane!
