Opel Australia has confirmed that Australia will be having the Opel Zafira Tourer added to its model range. You might just be wondering what the Zafira Tourer is? Don’t worry, when we first heard of it we had no idea either. Don’t worry it isn’t some sort of African Safari vehicle. However, you might be able to pull it off in the Zafira.
The Zafira Tourer is a people mover for those wanting a little more luxury than a Toyota and can’t quite stretch to an R Class Mercedes. The new car does hint at styling similar to the B Class Mercedes. A 1.6litre turbo petrol engine or 2.0litre turbo diesel set to bring a nice parity of power versus practicality.
In the world of SUV’s, a lot of compacts don’t bring the capability of carrying seven-passengers anymore without paying for the privilege. The Zafira lets you do the Saturday morning sports with the kids, the kid’s drop off every morning to the Teddy Kids Leiden, as well as being able to act as the chauffeurd and pick up the unwanted extended family from the airport.
Thanks to clever German engineering the third row of seats can be folded flat. So yes, in those times you want to forget that you have a people mover you can hide the third row of seats. In reality, it also means that you can carry those bigger items with a nice flat boot.
At the moment, we don’t have pricing or a firm release date. We do anticipate that the Zafira will launch sometime this year (duh).
