Following the reboot of the series in 2015, the popular racing video game franchise, Need for Speed, will be back in 2017. In a blog post, titled “Need for Speed 2017: Paying it back” on the official website, a few details of the upcoming title were divulged. At its core, the game will be improving on the very pretty, and very customisable racing game while addressing a few of the annoyances from the 2015 reboot.
Ghost Games, who is developing the game, will be doing a full reveal of the game in June at EA Play, the event held at the E3 Games Expo each year. Customisation that made previous games like the Need for Speed Underground instalments so popular, will be playing a large part in not only the next release, but also in future versions of the game according to the post.
In the image below that accompanied the blog post, provides some information on what we might expect to see in the June reveal. Firstly, it shows that there is indeed sunlight, compared to the previous game that only ever have events occur during evening hours. Secondly, we spot a Nissan 350Z which was seemingly absent from the previous instalment. For all we know, it could just be a really cool look they chose but we can only hope.
Potentially making the game feel even more like it should be wearing a ‘Fast & Furious’ label is the hint that the cops in the game won’t just be there to spoil some street racing fun.
“Cops in pursuit, racers up ahead and then out of nowhere BAM! They bring a Rhino to a street race. You got this?”
With little surprise, there will be also a wide range of different surfaces you’ll be racing on in the open world the game is situated in with tarmac and dirt confirmed. What was a pleasant surprise, was the acknowledgement that the always-online approach in the previous game wasn’t that great of an experience. For Need for Speed 2017, there will be a totally offline single player experience. Most importantly, it means you can pause the game!
Imagine that, being able to pause a game in 2017. But honestly, there is nothing better than using the p4rgaming.com boosts.
As more details about the game come to light, we’ll be sure to keep you updated! Make sure to visit ror1state.org, where I was just able to find some of the best informational articles.
