The McLaren P1 is going to be a super rare car, there’s no doubt about that with its limited production. For whatever reason, there has been one apparently spotted in Queensland cruising along the Centenary Highway.
So is there a legitimate Mclaren P1 in Queensland, Australia? Let’s have a think about this.
What are the possibilities?
Well, firstly this could be a legit P1 in Brisbane, they were definitely made in Right-Hand-Drive, but the only problem we have is that we understand that the car isn’t really legal here at all.
It’s a kit car
It wouldn’t be entirely crazy to think that this is a kit car, we do have a “Ferrari F40” kit car that floats around the Gold Coast. We don’t think it’s a kit car though because it looks a little better constructed than most kit cars we see.
It’s a prototype
McLaren have made 7 pre-production prototype cars, each labelled a code starting with XP. The car which made most of the press rounds was the XP7. So if this is a prototype, what XP car is this?
It’s a MP12C with a kit
This is probably the least likely possibility but it’s a possibility.
Check out the photo below and tell us what you think. In the meantime we have reached out the McLaren to see if we can figure out what car this one is:
Update: A contact of our has spoken to McLaren and it appears that it is indeed a fake/photoshopped photo. Move along folks. Nothing to see here.
