Mercedes-AMG has just finished introducing the A 45 AMG. What has already caused a lot of stir across the web, this car is shaping up to be an impressive M135i competitor.
For the first time ever, the AMG performance brand will be offering a vehicle in the compact class. The A 45 AMG has some straight up exciting figures including 265kW of power and 450Nm of torque from the AMG 2.0litre four cylinder turbo engine. Which is actually the most powerful four-cylinder production motor in the world and enhanced further by being paired with a AMG DCT 7-Speed Sports Transmission.
Even when you break down the specs, the 133kW power density is comparable to those of sports cars in class’s way above that of the A 45 AMG. An added bonus is the fuel efficiency of 6.9litres per 100km which whilst isn’t that amazing when compared to other European vehicles, for a sports car like this it is pretty impressive.
The A 45 AMG keeping with being impressive, even the cooling system has components straight from Mercedes super car the SLS AMG. This allows the car to keep at its peak and be even more efficient.
A big point of difference compared to the M135i is the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive which will be putting power through all of the wheels, meaning greater traction when you will need it most! With the setup there’s also a significant weight saving of 25per cent versus all-wheel-drive solutions from other competitors.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Mercedes-AMG without a nice list of options to trick out you’re a 45 AMG and here’s just a few: AMG Aerodynamics Package, AMG carbon-fibre exterior mirror housing, AMG Exterior Carbon-Fibre package, AMG rear aerofoil, AMG Exclusive Package and the list goes on.
We absolutely love the look of this though from what we have heard the vehicle will be launching later this year but the waiting list is already pushing deliveries for customers back into 2014 and we have barely started 2013!!!
