Hyundai and the newest generation i30 four door hatch has been awarded a five star ANCAP rating following the new Elantra, Accent, i40 range as well as the new Veloster.

To achieve this rating the i30 was put through a number of tough tests but thanks to the standard safety equipment it passed with solid results. With Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), ABS with EBD and Brake Assist System (BAS) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC). The car body itself uses ultra-high tensile steel and seven airbags as standard.

Whilst it is a lot of big names and acronyms it’s all there to save your life and I’d rather have it and try to get my head around it.

Whilst in the past Hyundai didn’t have a shining reputation these safety ratings across their product range really shows how serious they are as a manufacturer in providing the best possible product for the market segment which they are in.
