On the 29th of July the Ford Discovery Centre (FDC) in Geelong, Victoria will shut its doors for good. Over the past 13 years the centre has seen more than 250,000 visitors with an education experience focussed on automotive engineering and manufacturing.

Despite its success the Directors of the Trust of the FDC have concluded that the Centre cannot continue to evolve in its current form. The FDC was run in partnership with Ford Australia and Deakin University and they are now looking for new ways to highlight their joint history.

We haven’t been to the FDC ourselves, however from talking to members of the community it seems that this was a great place to visit and should be on the list of places to visit if you’re in Geelong before the 29th of July.

We hope to see the FDC back in a new form in the future as it is always sad to see a place like this closing down.
