Ok, so maybe a hairdresser comment was unfair in the title. We are talking about a turbo charged Ferrari that just so happens to be a convertible. One good looking convertible for a matter of fact.
Most Ferrari purists weren’t fans of the last Ferrari California, but the Ferrari California T has arrived in Australia and is ready for tearing up the highway topless.
The California T is a mixture of pure sportiness and versatility thanks to a turbo charged V8 and retractable hard top. Don’t think that the turbocharged approach isn’t something Ferrari would do, the legendary GTO of 1984 and the F40 of 1987 boasted the technology.
Unlike those historic supercars, Ferrari has used new technology to get close to the perfect combination of razor-sharp responsiveness, spine tingling performance, awesome torque and that wonderful Ferrari exhaust note.
To almost 100% eliminate turbo lag Ferrari has adopted an F1-derived flat-plane crankshaft plus twin-scroll turbines. All of this is then managed by the Variable Boost Management software that optimises the boost depending on the gear you’re in.
When it comes to performance, 0-100km/h is achieved in just 3.6 seconds, 755Nm of torque and 412kW of power being created. As for top speed, don’t be surprised to hit 316km/h. It’s such a pity we won’t be able to see these speeds legally on our road. You’ll have to sign up for a track day.
To translate the power to the road are 245/40 ZR19” tyres on the front and 285/40 ZR19” tyres on the rear, and you can choose to upgrade these to 20inch tyres.
Finally, an added bonus for prospective buyers, the Ferrari California T is included in the Ferrari 7 Year Maintenance program that provides 7 years of unlimited kilometre servicing. This means that you don’t have to worry about that next service, you can know that your Ferrari is going to be running perfectly during your ownership.
