Mercedes has unveiled the latest addition to the AMG line up with the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake (a.k.a a Station Wagon). Whilst the CLS 63 AMG has been popular does that mean the Shoot Brake will share the same success?

The new addition boasts an impressive 5.5-litre V8 bi-turbo engine producing 386kW of power 410kW (with the optional AMG Performance Pack) connected to a seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission.

Acceleration of the beast is 4.4 seconds (4.3 seconds for AMG Performance Pack) is impressive from a vehicle this large. Top speed is limited to 250km/h (what did you expect from Mercedes??) and to bring it to a stop there are the optional ceramic composite brakes. Fuel consumption is on the high side with a rating of 10.1litres per 100km.

Inside of course there are the typical Mercedes AMG luxuries such as nappa leather sports seats, performance steering wheel. Whilst there haven’t been any official prices released yet, we expect it will sit above $270,000 when it hits shores in late 2012.

So, what do we think? We love the looks. Initially it can look quite ugly; however after you look it for long you can appreciate the lines. We can’t wait to see it in person to get a good look at it.
