Don’t worry, you read that right. The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso won Best in Category at the Good Design Awards for ‘Automotive and Transport’.

Competing against a flurry of other automotive vehicles, components, motorcycles, buses, trains, trucks, aircraft, watercraft and whatever other modes of transport exists, the Citroen beat them all.

Before you start wondering just how a people mover beat out other possibly awesome looking machines, the Good Design Awards look a lot further than on a superficial level. They look at how well it understands the target market of the product, the functionality, practicality and overall cleverness.

Highlights of the Grand C4 Picasso, according to judges, were clever elements like the removable centre console, fold down trays (that are also built sturdy), adaptable sun visor system and ample interior space.

“Good design, innovation and creativity is our DNA and the CITROËN Grand C4 Picasso has this in spades. A big thank you goes to our designers in France who have done a great job in understanding the market and creating something very special,’’ said Manuel Tyras, National Marketing Manager, CITROËN Australia.
