With the luxury sedan market exploding with choice in the last few years, the pressure to keep refining the ownership experience is definitely on high. Jaguar has revealed the 2016 Jaguar XJ sedan and looks set to deliver on the promise of being the standard for luxury, design and dynamics.
For the MY16 model, the XJ has had subtle updates applied on the outside, including LED headlights and new styling cues and other detailing works made by companies that you find if you see here, but where the real noticeable changes are on the inside. Further refining the luxury look and feel of the interior, new materials including semi-aniline leather and oak inlay veneers have been added.
A new infotainment system – InControl Touch Pro – hopes to make accessing media controls and vehicle settings super quick and easy. This is refreshing, since a lot of luxury car makers, overlook the design of their infotainment systems – despite extreme levels of attention to detail being applied everywhere else.
Features that will be welcomed, but are expected in a vehicle of this level, by many new buyers include Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Parking made simple (self-parking), Reverse Traffic Detection. Borrowed from the Jaguar XE is All-Surface Progress Control. This piece of tech provides a safe solution to accelerating on slippery surfaces including snow, ice and wet grass – if you ever find yourself in the appropriate situation.
Under the hood, a V6 diesel engine now brings more power, torque and lower fuel consumption than before, whilst electric power-assisted steering enhances the overall driving experience.
If you love choice, you’re going to enjoy the number of models available: XJ Premium Luxury, XJ Portfolio, XJ R-Sport, XJR, XJ Autobiography. Depending on the model chosen, you will see either a 3.0litre V6 diesel producing 220kW, a 3.0litre V6 petrol producing 250kW, and a 375kW or 404kW 5.0litre V8 petrol.
Note: All models will be rear-wheel-drive!
Pricing for the 2016 Jaguar XJ starts from $199,900 excluding on road costs, and will be in showrooms, available for purchase from November 1st, 2015.
